Psalms 11:5
The Lord examines the righteous,
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.

This statement has got me thinking. We often say "God loves everyone (even sinners, which we once were) but hates sin." Here the psalmist is saying the Lord hates the wicked. Is this referring to the person or the action of wickedness / violence? Perhaps God knows who will turn from their wicked ways and who will not turn ... and I know that He does know ... He is omniscient.

Great point, Allan, and I had the same thought when I read it. I tend to agree with your final statement, that God already knows who will not turn. It is mind boggling that He knows even the thoughts and destiny of every single one of the current approximate 7 billion people on the planet.

Yes, good point and question, Allan. God said Jacob I loved but Easau I hated... Go figure.

You know Allan God loves everyone so much (John 3:16) tells us just how much. As for the few scriptures that mention God hating something, it is never the person that God hates it's always their actions. We have free will to choose or decide for ourselves if Jesus had it planned out or already decided who goes to heaven and who don't there would be no use in having Jesus come die for our sin. There would be no use for the Holy Ghost to come as a comforter, or even for the Bible to have been written. Yes Jesus see's all, know's all, and is everywhere all at the same time, but we still decide/chose own fate of HEAVEN or hell.
