yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love. It is as none other than Paul—an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus—

This shows how humbled Paul was during this time. He chose to come to him in love-not commanding Philemon's obedience like he could have. How many times has God done this very thing for me and you? His grace & mercy given time and time again when we did not deserve it.Every time either has been given has been from the love God has for us. Paul knew this and was humbled by it. This is very inspiring. Thank you Heavenly Father for your word, & your love!!

Paul could have just said "Do this and do that" but following the example of Christ he used gentleness and love to win Philemon over to treating Onesimus like a brother not a slave. In this we should follow, to get the world to love Jesus we cant use brute force, but perused them by love.
