This is a stern warning to those who APPEAR to be believers but do not follow the Lord's commands which are pretty well all summed up in Jesus statement in Matthew 22:37-40 " Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." These sum up all the other commandments because if these two commands are followed, all the rest will automatically be obeyed.

If I call Him Lord then I need to set my heart on doing the will of the Father which is set out in these verses, live so to point others towards Christ even if it means your "rights" must suffer. I don't need to do more religious acts, I need to love God with all my heart and love my neighbor.

Wow, only those who do the will of God our Father will enter the kingdom of heaven. So one could do a lot of activity for the kingdom, but if it's not God's will to do what was done, and His will was not done, you won't enter. You are an evildoer when what you do does not comply with God's will for you. WOW.

I think I need to meditate more on this verse. There's more for me to understand. Praise God, He's pressing me to dig deeper.

I think you're not alone, Carrie. I often fall short, even of what I expect of myself, and this brings me back to really think, "am I really following Jesus". I chose the same verse and it brought to mind Matthew 22:37-40. God bless

I am thanking God for this warning (in love). Thank you Father for loving me so much and redirecting my path. This passage was always scary to me, the very thought that when I die and go to heaven and at the gate I would be turned around and sent to live forever in the pit of fire. That thought had always been too much to bear. But today, this passage has brought about repentance in my heart and I am thankful for that. This passage today has helped me draw even one step closer to me living in my Father's will. I understand now that to "enter the Kingdom of Heaven" is not for my next life...it is now. I have been really looking at the Israelites journey and their long awaited entrance into the "promised land". And yesterday, when I read Josh. 18:2-3 , "And there remained among the Israelites seven tribes who had not yet divided their inheritance. Joshua asked the Israelites, How long will you be slack to go in and possess the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?" I thought as I read this yesterday, is God talking to me? I want to live in the land, I want to be in His constant peace, I want to abide in Christ Jesus everyday. I love it there. Then the Spirit led me to Heb. 4:1-2, "Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still holds and is offered [today], let us be afraid [to distrust it], lest any of you should think he has come too late and has come short of [reaching] it. For indeed we have had the glad tidings [Gosple of God] proclaimed to us just as truly as they [the Israelites of old did when the good news of deliverance from bondage came to them]; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith (with the leaning of the entire personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) by those who heard it;..." After reading this passage, I asked God, "how am I not occupying the land, help me to understand?" And He led me back to our reading yesterday, Mt. 6:9, "Pray, therefore like this: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your name." And this morning, I understood. Last night I watched a documentary and this gentleman spoke about the power of I AM and our obscure use of it. I was guilty of defiling my Father, the Creator of all things, God of God, Lord of Lords, name. Everytime I say, "I am sick, I am poor, I am tired, I am not worthy, so on and so on, I had not kept His name holy. I am greatful, greatful and honored and thankful, my Father is so merciful to show me the way. Verse 14 says the gateway to life is very narrow and only a few ever find it (NLT). Thank you Father for continuing to show me the way and opening my eyes to see it. Thank you for allowing me to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven today, and to operate in Your will for me; which is I AM prosperous, I AM well, I AM love, I AM the Your daughter, I AM Your holy priest, I AM healthy, I AM divine, I AM blessed, I AM made in Your image, I AM God. Thank you Father for choosing me, to produce fruit that will last, fruit that kept Your name holy, fruit that bring glory to You.

Don, the last question you asked has been one God has place in my heart and asked me. "So that the world will believe He (God) sent Jesus (John 17:21) was the answer He gave me. I was saved, chosen, to live as who I really and truly am, I AM God, I AM love. I AM the evidence of the heavenly Father. Now, today, I must live this way. Thank you for the post. Peace be with you. Glory to the Lamb of God. Praise His holy name. Amen.

I've often heard that all we have to do is believe in Jesus and we will be saved. This is true...yet, Matthew 7:21 teaches us that just saying that you believe is really not believing at all. If a person truly believes something, they will act upon it. If you believe that the bridge is safe to cross, you will cross it. If you say you believe it is safe to cross, but, then refuse to cross it, you do not really believe. Thus, it is the same with Jesus. You are saved by faith. But, just saying you have faith is really not faith. Acting upon that faith is faith. Help me Lord, to be very sure when I witness, that I do not just tell someone to believe..... and then not explain to them what real faith is. It is believing Jesus to the point that you do what He tells you to do.

Amen! Faith without works is dead. I have found that what ever you have faith in, that is the work (or fruit) that will be produced. This is also confirmed with verse 20 "Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions." God is helping tons with this thinking. I have found not many of us Christians really believe what Jesus came to say to us, that we are gods (John10:34); I had been struggling with that fact myself. Though I had had tons of "lip service" and telling others, I had failed to truly believe and live it myself. I must DO what Jesus tells me to do.
