Here we see that ones position in life does not give anyone an advantage in gaining Eternal Life or Salvation. Eternal Life is for those who believe in Him, and repent of their sins, and commit themselves to Him. Ephesians 2:8 For it is by Grace you have been saved, through Faith and this is not from yourself , it is a Gift of God.

This verse can be read as a warning or an encouragement depending whether you view yourself as the first or the last. Nevertheless, the promise is that if we deny ourselves, give up our possessions, and leave our family for Jesus' sake, we will be rewarded when Christ returns.
