I just realized something else about this passage! If Peter had stepped out onto the water and had NOT faltered in his faith and then had to be reminded by Jesus to have faith, Peter could have begun to have faith in his own great faith, and not in Jesus. We must be reminded to keep our faith in JESUS. .. and not in our faith!

This is the story of my walk with the Lord!!! I believe, but, then I doubt. I ask Jesus to show me his power so that I can increase my faith. He calls to me to take a stop of faith, just as Peter had to take that stop of faith and step out on to the water. I eagerly take that step of faith, but, then I falter and when things get a little tough, I again begin to fear and doubt. Thank you Lord Jesus to giving this account to us, so that we can see ourselves in Peter, and we can hear you say to us "You of little faith, why did you doubt"? And, then I can again have my faith restored.

Peter was the only one who got out of the boat and walked on water ... great faith! BUT when he saw the wind ... he took his eyes off Jesus and his faith faltered. What a picture of us in our walk with the Lord. May we have a strong faith (like the centurion from a previous chapter) and keep our eyes on Him as we seek to serve Him regardless of the winds around us that cause us to doubt and possibly fail.

How many of us today would totally trust? I hope that if I was with Jesus right now that I would step right out of the boat to him. Sitting here, in my home, I believe that I trust him for everything, and I do give up my worries, concerns, fears for him to manage. I ask for for his will to govern my decisions and I believe that they do, but could I or would I step out of the boat on the water?

You are right! It is hard to keep the faith when this life is so difficult. But, it's when we step out in faith, even though we fear, that we are able to then see Jesus' power at work.... and that is what builds our faith. God Bless you Sister.

I'm afraid I fit in this category at the moment and I belive a lot more of us do to. It's not that I don't believe in Jesus, I do. I don't, I'm just learning to let Jesus show me the way. We all need more faith in our lives. I keep saying to myself when things aren't going just the way I want them to oh you of little faith. It helps and keeps me going.

Hold on, I too felt that i let god go, because i once battle depression. i also believe because of his grace, and mercy. he never let me go, he said that he never leave us or forsake. i live by his promise. we are all sinner in eyes of the lord, but we are forgiven, because he love us so much he send his only son to die for us. how great is his love. i hold on to my faith, because no matter what i'm going through he still loves me, and so do i love him . i have no doubt of his love. he given us the most precious gift of them all himself, bible, and his word is all i need. walk by faith, and not by sight. i am truly blessed, and so are you.

I feel the same way, but, I just realized. If Peter had stepped out onto the water and not faltered in his faith and started to sink and have to depend again on Jesus, he may have become dependent upon his [Peter] faith and not on Jesus. We need to keep our faith in Jesus, and not in how strong out own faith is.
