Leviticus 5:1
" 'If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible.

Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
Here we see in this chapter the priest offering sacrifices for Oath taking weather good or evil, Guilt of touching a carcass of an unclean animal, an offering for being Unfaithful to the Lord sinning unintentionally, and anyone who sins against the Lords commands. I thought this was a difficult chapter to just pick a verse. But again the Blood of Jesus Christ who died for our sins, covers any and all sins, The Perfect Sacrifice.

Yes Peter, I too found it a difficult chapter to pick a verse, and it did not mention repentance but I sense that the sinner bringing the sacrificial animal was an indication that there would be repentance. There seems to be a lot of repetition in these chapters regarding the sacrifice. Perhaps it's to draw attention to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ. The Israelies would not have had the Scriptures that we have been blessed with today but likely only the priests had them in writing. Surely causes us to think and realize how blessed we are, and yet so many professing believers seldom dig into these precious Scripture documents that are so readily available to us. Be strengthened, Peter, as we dig deeper into His precious word. God bless. :-)

This verse convicts me because I have turned away from speaking up when questioned. Our world today is full of crime and corruption. It is not easy to provide testimony when asked because of the fear of reprisal. Thank you Jesus for understanding and forgiving our human frailities.

God bless you all. Wow! This verse is very easy to understand. We need to be very, but very grateful to God for Jesus Christ. Think about it...anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible...just with that...now we are held for our own sins....but to be held for those extremes....God is good...thank you Jesus Christ. God bless you all and thanks for reading

I hear accountability in this verse. We have an obligation to stop or hinder wrongdoing when we see it by speaking out and speaking against it.

Staying silent because you don't want to "get involved" is not an option.
