Leviticus 4:35
They shall remove all the fat, just as the fat is removed from the lamb of the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar on top of the food offerings presented to the Lord. In this way the priest will make atonement for them for the sin they have committed, and they will be forgiven.

Key words in this verse: The priest will make atonement for the sin they have committed, and they will be forgiven. This whole chapter deals with the Jewish ritual about atonement for sin, which was pretty lengthily. Jesus Our High Priest changed all that with His perfect sacrifice, as the unblemished Lamb of Go,free from sin. Who died for our known and unknown sins. Hebrews 7:27 Unlike the other high priest, He does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for the sins once and for all when He offered himself.

How much more simple is our forgiveness achieved today since we receive Jesus Christ's sacrifice. We must confess and repent of our sin, and the blood of the Lord Jesus, covers our sins. Thank You, Lord Jesus for paying the high price You payed under the new covenant, to forgive us of all sin. 1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Thank You, Lord, for making our cleansing so much simpler than it originally was with the Israelites. Amen

This verse makes me grateful that God has always had a plan in place for the atonement of our sins. He knows we have weaknesses and that we needed Him. Also, a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us and how He is our High Priest now. I am truly grateful for a forgiving God.

The entire passage reminds me that when sins are committed, the blood is required as an atonement; and in that, atonement is made for the sin committed, and forgiveness is the result. Rejoicing that Christ was the only sacrifice once and for all that made atonement, so that the blood of goats, bulls, lambs, are no longer necessary. The book of Hebrews 9 comes to mind.

We need to ask forgiveness for sins done unintentionally as well as intentionally. Hopefully we would never intentionally sin.
