Fellowship offering is thought to be a peace offering. The animal from the herd, because it was to be without blemish, could be a male or female.

Because the fellowship offering symbolized peace with God, part of the offering was to be eaten by the person presenting it. What a beautiful picture of the fellowship God wants to enjoy with His people! Jesus brought us peace with God and one day we will sit down and eat with Him!

The fellowship offering was an expression of thanks to God for some blessing He sent, or for some answered prayer,or for the forgiveness of sin and being at peace with Him. On the Cross, Jesus Christ made peace with God for all those who will trust in Him. We can now enjoy fellowship with God and other believers because of Christ's shed blood. Lord help me to bring my offering of praise and thanksgiving to You each and every day!

Something I used to struggle with is giving to the Lord out of my excess, if I had enough left over. He however clearly shows us we need to give him the best, our first fruits, (without defect). He doesn't want us to give something unimportant or something that we might have thrown away anyways. We need to always give to God our very best!
