The Lord is once again, as always, stressing that He is the only God they are to worship. Exod 20:3 You shall have no other gods before Me. Deut 5:7 You shall have no other gods besides Me. Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. God is always God, whether Jehovah or Jesus, who walked on earth in the form of a human being. He is still the same God, and there is no other. Then, after Christ was taken up to sit at the right hand of the Father, He sent Holy Spirit to live in all followers of Christ. So we have the three persons of God Almighty, "Father, Son and Holy Spirit." Acts 2:4 And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Having just finished a study of the book of Revelations, I see that idol worship is a human weakness. Even John fell down to worship angels. I must keep watch against subtle, or not so subtle, idols that rise up before me.

Don't put anything before the Lord, be it a person or thing. God will not share His glory with anyone. He is the Lord God Almighty and worthy of all glory, praise, and honor. He is a thrice holy God! HOLY! HOLY! HOLY! Is the Lord God Almighty!

God is a jealous God and will absolutely not tolerate other Gods in the life of the Israelites. Worldliness of today brings many different Gods with it. From time to time I have fallen into this trap with possessions. It is truly not worth it. One God, one Son, who sacrificed himself for me, and eternal life with them both. That is what I need to stay focused on, NOT possessions! Thank you Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins.
