Well this verse reminds me that while our God is a loving God, we must obey his laws. If more people knew the seriousness of their sins maybe they wouldn't commit them. I guess anyone that would injure another, even though claiming to be a Christian, truly has not given themselves to the Lord. I will share this with my kids and try to enforce "eye for an eye" with them.

I tend to agree with you, Patricia. If people knew they were going to receive what they had done to another, themselves, I believe it would reduce the occurrence of such crimes. And I notice that the punishment was done publicly, not in a secure and out of view place as is done today. If a person who committed murder was executed publicly where others could witness, it would be a great deterrent for that to happen again.
