Leviticus 23:3
" 'There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.

God created the earth and everything in it in six days. On the seventh He rested. How sad that we have become so greedy that we open stores on the seventh day completely going against what God has commanded.

So true, Patty. I can remember in my youth, when everything was closed on Sunday. If you didn't get what you needed by Saturday evening, you went without. Oh to go back to those days, knowing what I know now. As it is today, as you have said, Patty, everything is open seven days a week, for the most part. Though I do know some who do close on Sundays. I know one restaurant near us that never is open Sunday and as we drive by, we say, thank You Lord, that they are obeying Your commands. God bless, Patty.

Amen, Terry. For the most part, our world is so money oriented that everything is open 7 days a week. I'm old enough to remember when everything closed on Sunday but not anymore. God bless.

This is something else that the world has made it difficult to practice over the last 50 years. I remember when Sunday everything was essentially closed. We must be personally disciplined to take our sabbath rest.

It is interesting to me how people interpret "a day of rest!" Parents running frantically to sporting events, races, filling the day up with activities, only to be bone-tired for Monday's work day! "Be still and know that I am God."

So true, we forget sometimes how to be still. Thank you for reminding me!

I am an immigrant but I learned that there is a law before that prohibits opening of some businesses like car dealership on Sundays. Now there is business going on every day and people seem not to care anymore about the Day of the Lord. I pray that I and my family will not succomb to tthe desecration of the Sabbath.

Stay strong and stick to your moral convictions, Frederico! The Lord will honor you for that.
