Judges 2:10
After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.

This is what I see happening today. Good Christian parents have raised a generation of non-church committed Christians who have in turn raised a generation of non-Christians, who are in turn raising a generation of children who know nothing about God at all.

How is it that after the death of Joshua a "generation grew up who neither knew the Lord nor what He had done for Israel?" There can only be one reason the parents didn't pass down their redemption stories to their children and grandchildren. Every church is at risk of closing it's doors if the people fail to reach the next generation for Christ. Jesus called us all to be disciple makers and we need to take that calling serious. Lord help me to speak boldly about the good news of Jesus Christ to others!

Well expressed, Terry, and I believe that is exactly what has happened over the last couple of generations, our nations have been so blessed by God that we have turned away form His principles and the majority of young people have no idea who the Lord Jesus is, other than a curse word. If we do not very soon turn back, there will be a dire consequence. I pray for an awakening to take place VERY soon. God bless, Terry.

Amen, Patrick. Our nations have been so blessed by God that we have, for the most part, shover Him aside, thinking we can do it ourselves. I believe there's a wake-up coming soon, and I hope before God's judgment falls. God bless, brother.

We must teach by setting a Godly example with our lives, so that our children will grow and live by the principles of God. " Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. (John 5:19)" we must pass on what we know so that the next generation stays close to God and his heart. Tell them what God has done for you personally so that when we have gone they remember.

Every single promise the LORD made with Israel came true, and because they have forsaken his commands and made covenant with the people of the land and did not destroy their altars, they became a snare for the Israelites, a problem which they could not get rid off. They also failed to teach their children to fear the LORD and obey His decrees. Proverbs 22:6 "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." We must teach our children to fear God and walk in the truth, which is Christ.

That's all it takes - one generation - and we can forget God and His commands and promises, We are even seeing this happen in my generation in some respects. I am thankful for His Word which can be shared and we can find Him again or for the first time. Let us be bold in sharing our faith and loving God and others in practical Christ-like ways.

There's so much that stood out to me. Wow. This verse though hit me hard. I have a 6month old and for the Glory of God I beg Him everyday to make sure I raise her in Him to really know Him. Its so important for us to raise our children to really KNOW God. Its not enough to just take them to Sunday school or make them have knowledge of the bible or restrain them from worldly things. Don't get me wrong please, doing all those things are great standards to teach but its worth nothing if you don't teach them the characteristics of God, if you don't be an example and a light to them, if you don't take time out to help them identify Gods goodness, grace, mercy, and power. Help them to really know them for themselves and at the end of the day salvation is their choice but you did all you can to introduce them to the King and not just to activities and religion. It shouldn't be grevious because if we are truly in Christ then the ways of the Lord will not be strenuous. I believe the israelites taught the law but that's about it. And that's why the verse says THEY DID NOT KNOW GOD.
