John 19:26
When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, "Woman, here is your son,"
Cathy C. from Poughkeepsie, NY said:
I used to wonder who is this 'disciple' that Jesus loved? I came across that phrase quite a few times in my meditating on the Word. Finally someone filled me in and let me know that John was referring to himself. We can also say we are the disciple that Jesus loves if we are obeying Him.

Jesus being in agony, being crucified tells the disciple to take care of his mom. Amazing. Thankyou Jesus for your love and for the price you paid for all of us. I love you Jesus.

Earlier in His testimony Jesus does not leave His teaching to obey His mother's request. Rather he testifies that those that believe in Him are His mother, His brother and His sister. Lest we should be left with the impression that Jesus did not honor His mother, as scripture commands, here He cares for her to the end. He commands His disciple, whom He loves, to take her into his home as mother. Jesus honored His mother. Why He chose this disciple rather than one of her other sons, I don't know. I am sure He chose the best for her, because He is Jesus.
