Hebrews 2:11
Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

This is an amazing and encouraging statement, which this NIV version does not do justice. To think that Jesus, being God, who came to earth in the form of a human being, would call us His "brothers and sisters". If that is not an encouragement to us as believers, that Christ would call us His brothers and sisters (brethren) then I'm not sure what would be. Here's the same verse in NKJV; "Heb 2:11  For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren," Thank You Lord, that You were willing to lower Yourself to become a human and pay the price for our sins, when You were, and are totally sinless, and then, even call us Your brothers and sisters. Amen

That means you and me! We are brothers and sisters of Jesus our Lord! What more wonderful news could there possibly be? It means none of us is without family, who love us and who share joy in the Lord!

This verse means everything to me, it illustrates just how much God loves us. In spite of our evil ways and disobedience He adopted us as brothers and sisters by His redemptive work on the cross. He who was already Holy left His position of authority, became less then an angel, so that He might conquer death through His suffering and make us (all mankind) holy. And He is not "ashamed" to call "us" brothers and sister? All I can say to that is, "I am ashamed I have not done more to thank Him for what He has done for me." Who's love can compare to this? What an honour that the Lord Almighty, the creator of Heaven and Earth, would call us "brothers and sisters" and make us "sons and daughters of the Most High." This verse just inspires me to want to do more for Him.
