Genesis 44:16
"What can we say to my lord?" Judah replied. "What can we say? How can we prove our innocence? God has uncovered your servants' guilt. We are now my lord's slaves—we ourselves and the one who was found to have the cup."

The brothers saw that their guilt was not far from them. I wonder how many times they grieved over what they had done to Joseph? They still didn't understand that Joseph was right in front of them!

Amen, Ken. It appears that God did with them as He did later with the disciples, when Jesus appeared to them after His resurrection, and they didn't recognize Him until He opened their minds to see who He was. God bless.

The Conviction of Sin: Josephs dealings with his brothers is like Christ dealing with Christians about their sin and lack of repentance. Every Repentant Sinner will find the Lord.

God certainly knows our guilt, and I need to live my life remembering that!

So true, Michael, He does know all our guilt. But we must remember that in this case they were not guilty, and it must have been crushing to them to think their youngest brother appeared to be guilty of stealing Joseph's cup. Can't imagine the fear of their hearts at that point.
