Genesis 41:16
"I cannot do it," Joseph replied to Pharaoh, "but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires."
Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Joseph was an excellent example for believers, as he always gave the credit to God, never taking the glory as his own. He was surely a humble individual, and God rewarded him by having Pharaoh appoint him second in command over all of Egypt. From all his unrighteous punishment and mistreatment, to second in command of all Egypt. Humility and perseverance pays its dividends.

"I cannot do it," Joseph replied to Pharaoh, "but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires."

Here we see Joseph humbly giving all the credit to God for the interpretation of the dreams, "God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires." Great gifts appear gracefully when those that have them, and when they use them humbly, and not take the praise themselves. Today as brothers and sisters in Christ we can get answers from Gods word daily by reading the scriptures.

Genesis 41:15-16 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it." So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, "It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace."
The first thing Joseph did was make sure he gave ALL glory and credit to God before he ever even listened to Pharoahs dream.
Pharoah had a dream about 7 skinny cows eating 7 fat cows, woke up, went back to sleep and had another dream about 7 skinny stalks of wheat eating 7 fat stalks of wheat. After the skinny cows and wheat ate the fat ones, they didn't look any more nourished than they did before.
Joseph interprets the dreams saying that they're both the same and God was establishing Himself as true, just like when Jesus said truly truly. When God says something more than once, He REALLY means it.
Joseph told Pharoah that there world be 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of the worst famine ever experienced. Then, he recommended that Pharoah appoint a wise person to collect 20% of all the crops and save them for use during the famine. This is the 2nd mention of someone "prepping" in the bible. The first was Noah preparing the ark "Prepping" is biblical. It's not a sign of not trusting God. Proverbs 6:6 tells the sluggard to consider the ant who stores up its food in summer for the cold winter ahead.
So, Pharoah says he doesn't know of anyone that wise, and immediately promotes Jacob to 2nd in command. Hmmm, I wonder what Potifar's wife is thinking now.
So Joseph proceeds to go about the plan he laid out for Pharoah, and Pharoah gives Joseph a wife. With this wife, Joseph has 2 boys. He names the 1st Manasseh, which means Making Forgetful. It allowed him to forget all the bad done to him in the past. He named his 2nd son Ephraim which means Fruitfulness.
Only after we forgive, forget and move on from our painful past, can we move forward and be fruitful. We'll never be able to totally forget what happened to us, but when we choose to give it to God, trusting that He can exact revenge on those who harmed us way worse than we can. God created all of us and He knows just what all of us need. When we do that, the test to see if we've truly forgiven is when the thought of the abuse comes, we don't feel that "high octane ping" in our gut, which is actually our spirit reacting.
I'm sure as Joseph was down there in jail for another 2 years, he's feeling like God surely lost his file. When we're feeling like God has put us in a dungeon and can't seem to buy a break, that's when God is repositioning us. Joseph literally went from the dungeon to the palace in one day. Hang in there, my friend. God hasn't lost your file, He's got a big promotion waiting for you. He just needs to get you ready for it by taking off the rough edges.
Keep in mind that if you have the free gift of eternal life that you received by trusting in Jesus Christ alone, whatever you're going thru is the worst you'll EVER experience. If you haven't trusted in Jesus Christ alone, this is only a glimpse of what you'll experience after you die. I didn't say this, Jesus did. I'm just the messenger, here to report the news.
Papa God, thank You for this account of Joseph. It always gives me hope. Please never let me forget in the dark what You showed me in the light. As I await Your blessed hope always remind me that the sufferings of this world can't compare with the glory of heaven.

I notice that Joseph did not take credit for being able to interpret the dreams of Pharaoh but gave the credit to God who had enabled him to interpret the dreams. Help me, Lord, to always remember that it is You who gives me the abilities I have, for I can do nothing without You giving me the ability. Amen

Joseph gives credit to God as he is the one who blesses him. We often think and boast of our accomplishments as our own forgetting that God is always there, that he is where our blessings come from.

Joseph continues to give credit and glory to God. He held fast and didn't grow weary in "well doing". I don't know that I could've held on that long. But God is continually showing me that I HAVE to keep going forward cuz I sure don't wanna go back into the suicidal darkness He brought me out of. He will take me thru the valley of the shadow, not around, but also not to claim homestead either.

Joseph is humble and admits his gift of interpreting dreams come from God. It is God who gives us any gifts and talents we have and we need to have a humble spirit and give Him the glory for those gifts. It's so easy to take the credit especially when people complement us. Lord keep me humble and help me to remember like Joseph where gifts come from!
