So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.

It is surprising to me that the Bible does not describe Joseph's response to his brother's actions. I believe that his response must have been like Jesus' at the cross. We usually do not respond quietly to agression or transgression. Maybe here is a lesson to be learned.

I can't even imagine my bothers selling me off into slavery. If it happened would my faith be as strong as Joseph's? Through out the trial Joseph never lost his faith. In the end he is able to see God's hand in it all to save his family. Can we see God's hand in the trials in our lives or do we complain? Lord help me to see You in my trials and help me to grow in my faith!
