This is a very sad chapter of a family's lies, deceit and of not following God's divine wisdom but their own man-centered wishes. It's so sad that Rebekah never saw her son again and that Esau married pagan women... each son taken away in a sense.

It's pretty obvious that Rebekah favoured Jacob over Esau. But God has His plan and worked through Rebekah.
