Ezra 2:62
These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.

My family and I have been studying our family records and we have a lot of names but don't know their spriritual records. How sad as we search into our family and have found relatives that we didn't know we had, but just this knowledge doesn't make a bit of difference if each one or any will be excluded from Heaven. God help me and use me to be a witness for You so that my loved ones will not have to face the day and be told, I don't have a record of your name in my book. Thank you God for saving me and I rejoice that my name is in Your book.

Actually, Wanda, I read this and was curious, so I looked it up. According to a bible commentator named Kidner, "Barzillai was a name that carried considerable weight; its bearer had been a staunch supporter of David, and a man of wealth (2 Samuel 19:32). It may be that in adopting this family's name (and becoming its heir?) the ancestor of these claimants had laid himself open to the charge that hehad renounced his own birthright, the priesthood." Father, God, I never want to deny any part or parcel of my birthright with You.

This verse speaks to me about the importance of knowing who you are not only in Christ but also your genealogy. Their family records could not be found and so there were no records to show they were actually priests. How can we serve God if we do not know who were are or who He is? It is so important to know your spiritual genealogy as well as your natural one. Another thing that stuck out to me is that to be included in the royal priesthood of God, we must hold on to who we are in Him. We must know Him and know that we are part of His royal priesthood..holy and acceptable to Him.

Ezra 2:62 - They were excluded from serving as priest because there was no proof that they were priest. We are a royal priesthood but where is our proof? The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. (Romans 8:16) And Peter tells us to make our calling and election sure. Father in Heaven, i am so thankful that i know that i know i belong to you. i pray that my love for others will be proof to others that i am yours. i know i will never be perfect but i pray that everyday i am a tad or two closer to perfection. (talk about a long journey)

WE lost a very dear brother in the Lord Christmas eve and his memorial service was this weekend. It was a celebration of his life and he was a witness to all he met and he had a love for others ahead of himself. He was a kingdom builder and even in a year of fighting cancer, her was the most positive, upbeat person I have ever known. He lived each day with the expectancy of recovery and never once did we ever hear him feel sorry for himself. He will be sorrily missed but we know where he is now and I expect many more will come to Christ because of his witness. There were so many at his funeral that they had to live stream the service into two other rooms and it was his desire that a salvation message be given, which it was. I fully expect that many he knew were not saved, yet were in attendance. What a witness he was.

I 2 am sorry for ur loss, Lloyd, but that's a beautiful story. I KNOW God will do more thru his death than thru his life...look at ur response, and look at all the people who he touched.
