Exodus 33:3
Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way."

These surely are sad words. It's no wonder the people wept. Thankfully, the people had Moses interceding for them. Today, we not only have God's promise that He will never leave us or forsake us but we have Jesus interceding for us! We serve an AWESOME God!

I'm not sure quite what I feel here, but this verse really stands out to me. I can see the mercy and the sovereignty of God; mercy because he was allowing them to go on to the promised and His sovereignty in that he could have destroyed them right there for their disobedience and knowing that even though at that moment the Israelites were repentant for their disobedience, it would certainly happen again. Again, had it not been for the intercession of Moses . . .

,god is sending his people where he wants them to go,but say he will not go,i believe he says stiff necked people because they dont believe in him unless he does something for them, and he will destroy them because of the idols they chose to worship instead of god!!

This chapter brings to mind the all encompassing compassion for us that Our Father has for us. We can be so "stiff-necked" and yet He loves us with His immutable Agape love. He tells Moses later in the chapter the He will send His presence with them because He knows Moses by name. How reassuring that He knows us each by name! We are not just a bunch of bodies, but we are all His children He knows by name - individually. How can we not worship Him?
