Exodus 31:17
It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.' "

This verse takes me way back to my early days, when ALL stores and businesses closed on Sunday (today's Sabbath) when really Saturday should be the Sabbath. But none the less, businesses closed on Sunday, as a day of rest as the Lord commanded but today you'd never know Sunday from any other day of the week. Most stores are open for business. Money has become more important than honoring the Lord. I pray that we will come back to that, as we honor the Lord as He commanded. There are six days that can be worked but one day of the week should be to honor the Lord, and spend time with family and fellow believers. This is what the Lord has said, and we should come back to the honor of the Lord. Amen

You nailed it Lloyd, back in the day stores were closed, can't add to much to your verse choice. But I have also thought about Saturday being the Sabbath, but I know it was changed by a Roman Emperor.(studied this in history class) but I look at it this way not only worship the Lord Our God on Sunday, but everyday He deserves Our Worship. Keep Looking Up, For Our Salvation Draws Near.

To me it reminds me to rest in the Lord, to spent time with him and his word, to go to church, and to take things slowly and enjoy the life that he has given me.

God bless you all. What I understand is in our lives with the Lord if we are to be like Christ-like then we have to learn that out of the seven days in the week we need one day out of the week to rest completely because if you really think about it...... we are really ignoring and disobeying God regarding the rest of the seventh and being disobedient to God we are also sinning just think about Adam and Eve...in the long run they disobeyed God with the tree of knowledge. It's better for us to examine all parts in our lives when it comes to God and His Word because the Bible also says "Woe to those that know to do right and choose not too." Consider and think of God's Word before doing anything. God bless you all.

"It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever " It is a sign between God and his people .But we are sinners and we don't always do what we should ...."he rested and was refreshed "... Maybe that is why we sometimes get so stressed about life, so tired ,without energy....we need to give to God That day ,then we will be rested and refreshed .....Thank you Lord for that day of rest .

The LORD rested on the seventh day not because he needed to, but because He wanted us to see His example. We as frail humans NEED to take a break from our labors!

We need to have a day when we do nothing but remember all the blessings, promises and covenants of God. We need this day to do nothing but praise Him for all He has done and will do because of our obedience. God takes this day to honor, refresh and give us rest. He rested after the seven day not because He gets tired, but to give us an example of what our spiritual and physical body need. This helps us to focus on the most important things and it prepares us to walk by faith . I tend not care about the small things when I meditate on God's promises and give God the glory expecially with the saints of God.

You're correct in saying God never gets tired for he is perfect however he demonstrated the Sabbath for our sake. I like your comment!

Every one needs rest after working hard for six days. Even the Lord rested on the seventh day and was refreshed. I must reserve Sunday as a time of rest and a time for the Lord and family so I can be refreshed every week and work again to give honor and glory to Him who made the Sabbath a special day for all of us.
