And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

This verse is one that causes me to think, as I read through this chapter all the instances of faith that are commented upon. I think of Noah building the ark, how long it took him and the work that he had to put forth, all because he had faith in what God had told him. This chapter is filled with instances of faith, like that of Moses who led the people out of Egypt and then as God parted the sea for them to cross over. In our Bible study tonight we were studying about faith and what it means. Just this one night portion of a multi week study, lasted an hour and forty five minutes, and could have gone on. Lord, help myself and all my brothers and sisters in Christ to realize the importance of faith in our lives. Amen

This is another reference to truly believing. If we don't believe in our heart (spirit) that Christ died for us, and was raised from the dead, as expressed in Romans, then our belief is false. Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I pray that we will earnestly seek the true God, the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, individually, corporately, and as a nation under God.

Thank you for reminding all Christians to pray for a sweeping revival across our nation! America needs to “earnestly seek” God! When such prayers are made frequently and passionately, God often responds by sending a season of revival. Your comment reminded me of the reforms of King Asa detailed in 2 Chronicles 14-15, when a time of spiritual drought was followed by a time of spiritual revival. That ’s the good news. The bad news is that a revival is by definition preceded by a time of sinning, and that was the case here as well. Thankfully,God had long ago anticipated this very sequence of events and recorded this prophecy in Deuteronomy. 4:25–31. King Asa had been doing “what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord” (2 Chron. 14:2), but he was swimming against the current of his times. God, though, encouraged him to act boldly for righteousness, first with a military victory (2 Chron. 14:9–13), and in then with a prophetic word from Azariah, “If you seek him, he will be found by you” (2 Chron. 15:2). Asa had already made a few modest reforms, and now he obeyed God, took courage, and acted even more zealously to combat Israel’s spiritual unfaithfulness. He destroyed the people’s pagan idols and restored the altar of the Lord in the temple. The people “saw that the Lord his God was with him” and the revival gained momentum (v. 9). The nation of Judah came together for a national assembly, during which they offered sacrifices, worshiped the one true God, and wholeheartedly renewed their side of the covenant (v. 12). As He had promised, “They sought God eagerly, and he was found by them” (v. 15). Revival comes when believers earnestly seek the Lord. Sowing repentance and a soft heart leads to a harvest of the fresh breeze of the Spirit. In the words of Hosea: “Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you” (Hosea 10:12). God says, through his Propehet, Jeremiah, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jer. 29:13) I join you in praying that we all seek God!

Since Faith is having the assurance and confidence in God about the things I hope for but do not see how it would be obtained, it comes down to me believing and earnestly seeking God. Seeking God and believing that He would do as He promises is pleasing Him, therefore, He will reward for the faith, trust and belief given to His Word. This is what He requires of us His children to believe in Him without wavering.
