My life changed the second I received Christ as my Saviour and Lord. I just wanted everyone I met to know Jesus. This desire became a hunger in me and still is so I try to seize every opportunity. There are times I fail because I try to do this myself instead of looking to Jesus. Always ask Jesus to be your helper otherwise you will fail if it's by your own effort.

John is writing to those who walk in righteousness, and warning of one, namely Diotrephes, who obviously thinks himself more important, and is not following the Lord's example. Yet there is another brother among them, namely Demetrius, who is obviously a humble righteous man whom John commends. There are always those who think they are more important than others and often put themselves on a sort of pedestal but in the end will face judgment due to their self esteem or self righteousness. Psa 31:18  Let the lying lips be put to silence; the lips which speak proudly against the righteous, with pride and scorn. Lord, help me/us to walk in humility, and looking only to You as the righteous one. Amen

In this verse, John is encouraging Gaius to follow good examples. And we as Christians, believers in Jesus Christ are to imitate what is good, and over come evil that way, we are to avoid violence, revenge and hate. We are to use Love, Forgiveness and Truth, and good deeds as evidence of our Christian Faith. God knows the heart He knows who is truly saved, and those that do good show evidence of Salvation.

If you have God living in you, you will no longer want to live the life of sin. We will still fall at times but we will feel the sin we have committed and turn back seeking forgiveness.

Jesus please help me to do good, which is from you. To turn from all evil,which is from satan. Father when I mess up please help me to remember that I am still a work in progress. Jesus thank you that I am a new creation.
