2 Samuel 18:12
But the man replied, "Even if a thousand shekels were weighed out into my hands, I would not lay a hand on the king's son. In our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, 'Protect the young man Absalom for my sake. '

I wonder if this man was Ahimaz son of Zadok. He respected the kings words. He feared the king. Perhaps this is why he chose to run ahead and give the king partial news.

This man, whoever he was, honored David's command not to harm Absalom, and yet Joab payed no attention and ran spears through Absalom, killing him, in spite of David's request to do him no harm. It is amazing how some people pay no attention to leadership, thinking they know better.

Abishai was loyal to David so no amount of money he would take to kill Absalom. He sure didn't do a good job of protecting Davids son. But I'm pretty sure there will be consequences for Joab's actions against Absalom. Be Blest and Encouraged in the name of Yahshua.

this was a man that was loyal to the king because no amount of money was enough to disobey the king. in the kings heart he wanted to keep his son Absalom alive as a loving father would have done. and there are things that man wants that is not in the will of God.
