Peter here is saying after a brief time of suffering(a little while) it will end for those who who have faith in Christ. God will restore / perfect us, God will restore, He will make us strong, firm and steadfast. When God calls us home, He will restore and make us strong forever. That is His promise.

That no matter what I go thru God's grace will restore and make me strong firm and steadfast in it. It's His grace that does that for me, it's the faith He gave me in the blood of Jesus Christ to stand firm and steadfast in the hard times and good times as well.
