1 Peter 2:1
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.

This is a directive that I must continually pay attention to. The enemy uses someone to push our buttons in these areas on a regular basis, and if we aren't walking in the word, we will have a negative reaction rather than a positive response. Father, I ask for your help today that I will be obedient to this directive and remember Your words in Matthew 5:44 - that I will "love my enemies, bless those who curse me, do good to those who hate me, and pray for those who spitefully use me and persecute me." In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.

This is something I'm currently having a problem with. Sorry but I'd like to make a prayer request. I hope no one minds. One of my roommates seems to be the sort people call a troublemaker. Could you please pray for me that it will become easier and easier for me to forgive her. Again sorry for using this space to leave prayer requests.

Just as there are difficult passages to understand, there are some very clear passages that tell what God is like, who Jesus is, or as in this passage how we should live. And when it is hard to accomplish (really impossible perfectly), the Bible tells as how, as in the very next verse - crave pure spiritual milk. In other word, seek God with all your heart and don't rely on your own understand. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will make your path straight. Thank you, Lord!!

As we are aware, there is a political maelstrom going on in our country. People are divided by race, gender, economic level and even sexual preference. We are a social people and use social media to express ourselves in ways that we may have done before. I have seen several times over, slandering of the President the social media outlets and some of the slandering is coming from brothers and sisters in the household of faith. This ought not to be so, we should not speak ill of any one, and right here in the pages of Father's book shows us that we need to rid ourselves of that type of behavior!

I agree! We need to speak words of grace and encouragement. I just read a cool quote from Mr. Cathy of Chic-a-fila. He asked who needs encouragement? He answered his own question - Are they breathing? In other words, everyone needs a word of encouragement. Thanks, Stephanie.
