David shows compassion for his enemies here in commisioning them to rebuild their cities rather than leaving it in ruins. He could have left it in ruins but chose to have mercy, again showing the heart of a Godly king.

This chapter does not dwell on King David's sin with Bathsheba, but rather about David's victories in the battles with the enemies of God, and David leading Israel's army back to Jerusalem to praise the Lord. Even though that sin was not to be taken lightly, David was a repentant man, and God forgave him, completely. When God forgive, He forgives, and will never remember that sin again. Amen! After David repented of his sin, he went on to do exploits for the Lord, and was victorious. Thank the Lord, God can use the repentant sinner for His honor, praise and glory. Amen!
