1 Chronicles 17:27
Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Lord, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever."

From verse 16 to 27, we see that after David had proclaimed he would build a house for the ark of the Lord, that David did not feel betrayed, or even angered by the Lord's message through Nathan that one of David;s son's would build the house of the Lord. But he humbled himself and praised the Lord for what He had told him, and conceded that his son would build the house for the ark. This shows David's humility before the Lord. A great lesson of humility for us today. "As a side note, there is one thing about the NIV version of the Bible I do not care for, is that they often do not capitalize all references to deity, which in my mind causes some to miss reference to deity. In this chapter alone I checked 46 times where references to deity (God) was not capitalized. My main reason for not using the NIV Bible, which in my early years I did. It was my first study Bible but not anymore."

Amen Lloyd, clearly in this chapter David was not to build the Temple. And as you stated David is not afraid to humble himself before the Lord, for his humility over came any pride that he should be the one to build the temple. May you be Blest and encouraged as we prepare for the Lords Day.

After saying he would build a house for the Lord, and then received the word the Lord gave him through Nathan, David received the word of the Lord and humbled himself, accepting what the Lord had said. David was not offended when the Lord spoke to him through Nathan, but accepted and praised the Lord for His word. Help me, Lord to accept Your plans for my life and honor You as David did. Amen

1 Chronicles 17:27 - First the bad news: "No, you may not build me a temple". Then the good news: I will build you a house. You will be an ancestor of the Messiah, a blessing that will last through all eternity. - God wants us to focus on eternity. Sometimes God will answer our prayers with a big fat "NO". How should be respond...we should not pout but praise. We need to focus on eternity. David could focus on having a great (times many) grandson that would be the messiah, but we have even a better blessing to focus on...we will be the bride of this messiah. Father, you have turned my pouting into praising and my mourning into dancing. Help me dear Lord to focus on eternity, for my life here is just a breath.
