Matthew 6:1
"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
Sandy Y. from Jamestown, TN said:
Eveything we do should be done for the glory of the Lord, not to be seen of men. it is so much fun to do for others and watch the response when the receive a gift from an unknown source. The blessings we receive for anonymous gifts is wondertul here but the reward in heaven will be greater still. Thus the phrase, "it is more blessed to give than to receive."

Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Sandy Y. from Jamestown, TN said:
If we pass by a town at night, the lights shine brightly. They seem to twinkle and sparkle giving forth light for the whole world to see. In the samy way so should Christians allow their witness for Jesus Christ to shine forth brightly. Christians should never allow their "light" dim or to be put out. Shine brightly so the whole world can see!

Matthew 4:8
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
Sandy Y. from Jamestown, TN said:
How often are we tempted to reach for the natural things of the world rather than the spiritual. Eternal things built on the solid foundation of Jesus will last. the temporal kingdoms of the world will pass away. Things of the world are beautiful and appealing to the natural eye. Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moths and rust do not corrupt and where thieves cannot break in and steal them.

Matthew 3:10
The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
Sandy Y. from Jamestown, TN said:
God wants us to be busy about the Father's business, just a Jesus stated when Mary and Joseph found Him teaching in the temple at 12 years old. Our salvation is not based on our works but our works are a gift from us to the Father to build the Kingdom. With the leadership of the Holy Spirit we should be producing fruit for the kindgom.

Matthew 2:11
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Sandy Y. from Jamestown, TN said:
The question arises in my mind, "what gifts do I offer my Lord and Savior today?" Is it my best or are those gifts the worst of the lame or maimed of the flock? Lord help me to offer the best of myself in all that I do for your kingdom and to give because I love, not because I am obligated to give. Whatever my hand finds to do let me do it with all my might for your glory.

Matthew 1:21
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

i can hardly comment on verse without considering the entire first chapter of Matthew. The family tree of Jesus is anything but perfect. Judah thought Tamar a prostitute and fathered Perez. Rahab was a prostitute. David had an affair with Bathsheba. Yet out of this lineage came our perfect savior Jesus Christ. God uses imperfect people to work His will. God knows to heart of man. He is concerned with the heart far more than He is with our perfection or imperfection. He is never discouraged with our mistakes. He sent Jesus, through a young woman, to secure our future. We serve a perfect savior, Jesus, but we can never be a perfect people. We only have to admit our sins and commit our life to God.

Leviticus 27:30
" 'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.
Sandy Y. from Jamestown, TN said:
Leviticus 27:30 reminds me that everything belongs to our God. He allows us to use what He has blessed us with and gives us more than we need. I know verse 30 is written to the Israelites and fits under the law, but our best should be offered to God in each thing we do, think or give. Whatever our hand finds to do, do it with all my might and with the right motive. Love me first, God says and them love your neighbor as yourself. Love offerings are above and beyond our tithes for God. He never needs our offerings, nor can we repay Him. Obedience is what God wants from us.

Leviticus 26:13
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.
Sandy Y. from Jamestown, TN said:
Now under the grace of Jesus, who died for me, He has brought me our of the bondage of sin, broke that bondage of sin and enable me to walk with my head toward heaven with a hope for the future because my feet are planted on the rock. I am no longer under the yoke of sin. Forgiveness and light is mine. Amen...Amen...and Amen...He is the Lord my God..
