Psalms 64:3
They sharpen their tongues like swords
and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.

The tongue is the smallest muscle but can do the largest damage. Words can be like an arrow or knife and cut leaving large scars. All the apologies made can lighten the scar but it is forever there. Speak words of love, kindness and teaching, those are the marks that make the positive differences.

A great portrayal of the leftist community today, however, verse 7 gives us how God will counter their cruel words and actions. 7 "But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down." Thank You, Lord, that we can count upon You to defeat the enemy of You and Your people. Help me/us, Lord, to keep my/our eyes and hearts focused upon You. Amen

The Bible says much about the tongue. James calls the tongue a fire that can set the whole course of our lives on fire. Although the psalmist is referring to his enemies here we need to be extremely careful with what comes out of our own mouths. We all need the Holy Spirit to help us exercise self control and to clean up our hearts so the words we say bless others instead of tear them down. Lord, guard my lips. Help me to speak gracious words that glorify you and build others up!
