Leviticus 6:13
The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.

Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
This is a Key Phrase: Keep the Fires Burning, for the Fire of the Holy Spirit enables us to live a life of Blessings. "do not quench the Spirit" 1 Thessalonians 5:19. Prayer feeds the fire of God, where as prayerlessness quenches the Spirit.

Amen Peter. It surely is not good to quench the Holy Spirit as He is our representation of Christ, who lives here with, and in us. 1Cor 3:16  Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? Be encouraged and strengthened, Peter, my brother in Christ, as the Spirit of Christ guides us. :-)

The reason the fire must not go out is because God started it. It represented God's continual presence in the sacrificial system. God's fire is present in each believer today. He lights the fire when the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. How brightly that fire is burning depends on if we are living in the Spirit or the flesh? There are many days in my life when I feel the fire is just a flicker. Fill me Lord with the Holy Spirit and bring the fire of revival into my heart!

Amen, Terry. I invite Holy Spirit to live in me every day, and reveal my weaknesses. God bless.

Don't Let The Fire Go Out On The Alter: We as Christians are the Temple of the Living God. As Temples of the Living God 1 Corinthians 3:16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in your (our) midst? As the Temples of God we must offer up sacrifices Hebrews 13: 15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of Praise- the Fruit of Lips that openly profess His Name. Thank you Jesus for the Fire that Dwells in our Hearts, the Temple of God Amen

God bless you. This verse means to me that the way the fire was suppose to be kept burning on the altar continuously, it must not go out....well for me coming to Christ makes my heart the altar and I must not let the fire die out either. It must be burning continuously because it is the only thing that is going to keep me very much in love with the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't let the fire in your altar burn out...it must not go out or you will die spiritually.... God bless you all and thanks for reading

An altar is a temple. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit that keeps the fire burning in our heart. When I live my life in righteousness, the light will keep on burning while the fire goes out when i commit sin. Lord, help me to live my life in righteousness.
