The Lamb represented By Jesus Christ. That our sins has been laid upon the head of Jesus Christ, and His blood sprinkled (on the alter) on our hearts for Redemption. Hebrews 12: 24 to Jesus the Mediator of a New Covenant (Uniting God and man) and to the sprinkled Blood that speaks a better word(of Mercy) then the blood of Able. (that cried out for vengeance)

Amen Peter, and as you mention His blood being sprinkled on the alter, it brings to mind a video of a archeologist who recently found what he believes to be the ark, under where Christ was supposedly crucified, and it had something on the ark which he suspected was blood. There was a split in the rock above the ark which obviously had let the blood of Christ flow down to where the ark had been hidden. When he had it analyzed, it was found to be blood, but of a different texture than normal human blood, indicating that it truly was the blood of Christ, showing Him to have been of Godly origin. Such interesting things being discovered today that are revealing the absolute truth of the Bible. Whether this is all true or not I cannot prove but sure sounds reasonable to me.
