Sin is serious, the penalty here was death. The people were the ones to carry out the sentence. I would not want to throw a stone , yet it is what was commanded by God, I do want to obey God . But that is a hard command. Fear of the Lord comes in here as well.

I'm thankful that God does not punish us as the Israelites were punished. We sin daily and back then we would be put to death quickly. They were held to a way higher standard than what we live by today. Thank God for sending his Son Jesus.
