Leviticus 10:1
Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
This was a foolish act (against the Command of God) by Aarons sons, and when people do a foolish act an (unholy act) there needs to be a price paid and this act cost Aarons sons their life. They brought an unauthorized fire into God's presence. As Christians we are called out to be of the Royal Priest Hood, to give Honor and Glory to God and to respect things that are Holy.Gods word is Holy if we mistreat it we will face Gods judgement. Keep Gods Commands: Deuteronomy 4: 2 Do not add to what I command you and do no subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you. Revelations 22:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the Prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll.

Leviticus 10:1

Donna N. from Orlando, FL said:
Leviticus10:1-2 &9 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took each of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense thereon, and offered unholy fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. 2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. 9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations:
Sounds like these guys got drunk and, rather than going to the original fire that God told them to keep going to light their incense, they used either their own or something more convenient, and God struck them dead with fire.
God's response was pretty significant. The message came thru loud and clear to the people, that He wasn't just messing around when He told them how He wanted things done.
Then, Moses told Aaron, first of all that he couldn't show any signs of morning before the people. Then he had him go get 2 more of his sons and do it again, the right way.
Whew, sounds harsh, doesn't it? But it seems like when God is beginning something new with His people, He wants it done right so He's not misrepresented somehow. Like in the book of Acts, when he struck Annanias and Sapharias dead.
He obviously doesn't do that all the time, or a lot of churches would get emptied out pretty quickly. But actually, if He DID do a few things like that today, there would be more repentance, and people wouldn't live a life in delusion and end up not going to heaven. I'd rather have God judge me here, where I can get it right than blow it and miss heaven.
God doesn't strike people dead today, but when His people participate with the enemy with their, "more acceptable sins" like bitterness, unforgiveness, gossip and white lies, He allows sickness and disease to come upon them. There's just as much sickness and disease in the church as there is outside of it.
Romans 1 lists a whole bunch of sins that Paul tells us God will give us over to if we participate with them. The church likes to cherry pick some as being more vile than others like murder and homosexuality but right smack in the middle of the "big ones", are listed the ones we've deemed as "less bad" in Gods eyes, like covetousness,
envy, strife, backbiters, undiscerning, unforgiving. Those kind of things are rampant in the church, while we put on our "church faces" and look down our noses at others. That's why the world calls us hypocrites.
I was pretty blown away to find undiscerning in there. But as I think about it, it makes sense because we gain discernment by reading the Word, God's love letter to us. Hosea 4:6 tells us that we perish for lack of knowledge of the Word... We reject His Word, He rejects us.
Papa God, please show us things how You see them and stop white washing our sins while playing church that we'll be more like You, in Jesus name, Amen

The sons of Aaron were chosen by God to be priests unto Him. They witnessed the miracles of God. They had firsthand knowledge of God's holiness as few men have ever had, and for at least awhile they followed God wholeheartedly. But at a critical moment they chose to treat God's clear commands with indifference and God judged them for it. Their story is hear for our learning. We must draw near to God but we also should always remember that there is a proper fear of God. Our God is a holy God!

Strange fire is not Holy. To do want God commands not always brings a judgement. Thankfully we have a perpetual sin offering once for all in Jesus.

It is God's way or death. We don't have a say in how God is to show mercy.

When I read the Old Testament, I often wonder why the Israelites didn't get God's message. Here is an example of disobedience that cost Aaron's sons their lives. God gave them specific procedures to follow and they failed to do so. Why?
And yet, I sin every day and do not always follow God's messages. We have His holy word, the Bible, and still we don't get it right today. Only Jesus was able to walk the earth and not sin. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice so that we may be forgiven our sins.

There are people who pretend to be men of God and they do things that defile the sanctity of the priesthood. Sooner or later they will becaught and punished. I pray for these people to give more respect to the things of God.
