We do not have to make vows with God to get him on our side, rather we just need to get on Gods side. This was a vow that I don't think he thought through and was very foolish. What a surprise that it was his daughter. I don't think that God expected him to sacrifice his daughter especially since it was against mosaic law, yet I feel that her sacrifice was made as a life of servitude to the tabernacle. Vows between God are a serious thing and should not be taken lightly.
