Joshua 20:4
When they flee to one of these cities, they are to stand in the entrance of the city gate and state their case before the elders of that city. Then the elders are to admit the fugitive into their city and provide a place to live among them.

God has always been merciful to His people. He gives them a place to stay to escape the avengers. He judges the heart rather than the action. But He is also just that's why He cannot leave sins unpunished. His all loving and righteous attributes are the reasons why His son Jesus Christ had to die on the cross. Thank you LORD for loving us so much that you were willing to let your one and only son die on the cross for our sins. Please help us to forever remember this in our hearts and give you thanks always in this life and for eternity.

I look at this as a friend should be. Because we as people are finding someone else to blame instead of protecting one another. Try to help the friend in fault and your heavenly father will see the good in you as long as your heart is pure before him. Not standing up for them and then behind their back giving them up to the accuser.
