John 7:5
For even his own brothers did not believe in him.
Donna K. from Simcoe, ON said:
His cousin believed in Him, His earthly parents believed in Him, but His brothers did not. He could certainly have convinced them to believe and I'm sure that He would not have wanted them to perish. We don't know if they believed, later on in their lives. Two things that come to mind from this include the anguish of having unbelieving loved ones and how we cannot know for sure of someone's eternal fate, even at the end of their life, unless they have proclaimed a blessed assurance in Christ.

John 7:5 – “Jesus’ brothers said to Him, ‘Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see Your works which You are doing. For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known publicly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.” (John 7:3-4) It is hard for us to comprehend that Jesus’ brothers did not believe in Him until after His resurrection. St Francis of Assisi has quoted these words… (Preach the Gospel at all time and when necessary use words). I understand what he is saying and I think it is beautiful. We must live like Christians at all time because the bible tells us …”By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35). Yes, I agree we must walk the talk, however, the walk without the talk is not the only thing we are called to do. We should use Words, His Words. Jesus was the perfect brother. He never sinned against His brothers. He was honest and kind, yet His own brothers did not believe. You can do good for others all you want but if you don’t tell them about Jesus, you do not love them. Father in Heaven, when I feel like giving up, or feel I like I am wasting my breath sharing Your Truth, remind me that I am called to love all people and true love is being vulnerable.

Even Jesus had family members that didn't believe in Him. We shouldn't be surprised about our family members or loved ones. Let us stay in prayer that GOD will open their eyes and heart to receive Salvation through Jesus.
