It is pretty clear in the Bible that God wants us as parents to pass down to our children what He has said to us, what He has done in us and what we have seen Him do around us. Deuteronomy is very clear on this. Job praying for his children exemplifies a piece of this. Malachi stating God hates divorce because He wants godly offspring touches on this. As parents we really need to take it seriously what we pass on to our children! In this case, it is a severe judgment by God for the sins of the people. To not tell your children and to not explain to them the why opens the door for this cycle to continue to repeat.

"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart, and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house and when thou walkest by the way and when thou liest down and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates." Deuteronomy 6:6-9 generation to generation to generation...what greater conversations can we have with our children than of GOD and His ways, and yet these are the most neglected of all. God never changes, we do. Justifying sin and calling evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20), Woe.
