Joel 1:14
Declare a holy fast;
call a sacred assembly.
Summon the elders
and all who live in the land
to the house of the Lord your God,
and cry out to the Lord.

9 Grain offerings and drink offerings are cut off from the house of the Lord. The priests are in mourning, those who minister before the Lord. 13 Put on sackcloth, you priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God. 14 Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. 15 Alas for that day! For the day of the Lord is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty. 16 Has not the food been cut off before our very eyes— joy and gladness from the house of our God? 17 The seeds are shriveled beneath the clods. The storehouses are in ruins, the granaries have been broken down, for the grain has dried up. 18 How the cattle moan! The herds mill about because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep are suffering. 19 To you, Lord, I call,

How appropriate that since all the food is gone that they should declare a fast. According to Bible scholars, this took place in 2 Kings 8 when wicked Queen Athaliah was on the throne. Vs 13 says the grain and the drink offering have been cut off, so the sacrifices to the LORD at the temple only stopped when there was no more grain or wine to give to God. Apparently as evil as Queen Athaliah's reign was, she was still allowing the Hebrew priests to offer sacrifices at that time. Goes to show you that the devil doesn't mind Christian ceremonies and gatherings in themselves, he's more interested in corrupting true religion than eliminating it. We hafta be careful what we do in our gatherings. If it's in the Bible, we should do it, if it's not, we should avoid it. Our nation is heading full speed down an evil path of no return, straight into the falling away Paul tells us about in 2 Thes 2. We need to be watchful and diligent as Peter tells us, because the devil is seeking whom he may devour. He knows his time is short and he's going to ramp up the deception to try and take as many with him as he can. In Luke 13:1-5, they asked Jesus about a disaster that killed 18 people. He didn't tell them it was just an accident of blind fate, He used it as a wake-up call for repentance. He said that asking "Why did this disaster happen to them?" is the wrong question. The right question is "Am I ready to face such a disaster in this fallen world?" We all need to be asking ourselves that same question. Papa God, please get me ready for whatever You may have for me, whether it be take me out or take me thru, in Jesus name, Amen

Wow, this is great Donna, I like your first line, it made me laugh because it is true. “How appropriate that since all the food is gone that they should declare a fast.” And I like what you said about how the devil doesn’t mind Christian ceremonies as long as it is corrupted. I had to look up the verses in Luke 13, sounds like the news with the shooting in Charleston SC.
