Job 29:4
Oh, for the days when I was in my prime,
when God's intimate friendship blessed my house,
Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
Here we see Job reflecting on the good days when he had an intimate relationship with God. Job in his times of suffering and challenges Job still desired to have an intimate relationship with God. And as Christians living in the challenges in our lives today, be like Job and desire a strong relationship with God, and listen to His word.

Job, in this time of distress, was recalling his former days and thinking perhaps God had deserted him but yet he did not speak against God. No doubt God was smiling, as Job remained true to Him, not realizing that it was not God who had deserted him but Satan who came against him that would prove Job's sustained dependence upon God, even though it appeared that God had forsaken him..

It's hard to imagine the pain and suffering that Job experienced. It's also easy to understand how it would be easy to remember better days. As hard as it must have been, the truth is that God never stopped loving him. Job didn't have the complete Word of God to take comfort in, but we do. What do we know that Job didn't? "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)

Well expressed, Terry. I chose the same verse but my post would not take. God bless.

I've had that problems several times but I have learned that there are certain words that they will not let you say. I've learned most of them but if I share them with you my post here will not be able to be posted. All I can tell you is keep rephrasing what you are trying to say.

Jobs desire for intimacy with God remained even in times of suffering. Intimacy with God is why we were created, in our own trials and tribulation the intimate presence of God in our lives satisfy's us.

Job 29:4 – Job mentions how he longs for his intimate relationship with God even before his children. If we are going to reminisce, we should reminisce about God’s blessings, not about how others stabbed us in the back or lied to us. The good ole days were sweet fellowship with God, not our stupid BC days of sin and destruction. From Job’s perspective it was better in the beginning and is only going to get worse, but we KNOW better. God takes us from glory to greater glory. What happened at the wedding in Cana, …the best wine was saved for last and it will be for us also. Praise His Holy Name. Father God, from the rising of the sun to the setting of the same, everyday with You is sweeter than the day before. Better is one day with You than a 1000 elsewhere and at night time, tomorrow's what I'm praying for because Your mercies are new every morning and it gets better than the day before.
