Hebrews 5:12
In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!

We must continue to read, learn, practice, and teach the word of God. We must be obedient and faithful in the word of God, we cannot grow in faith if we do not obey the word of God. We will remain as infants who need milk for growth but not ready for solid food which is the true word of God.

I was first baptized at the age of 11 in the Pentecostal church. I mainly did it because I was coaxed by my father because he and his new family had joined the Pentecostal church. That didn't last long. Now 39 years later after practicing two different other religions, I still at times feel as though I am a babe to truth. I have allowed my faith to be tossed around like a piece of drift wood in the ocean. I can say that I feel closer to God now though than I ever had. There are times though that I feel that I have wasted my calling to the ministry because of focusing so much on my personal hardships and not looking to God, studying his word and sharing it with others. They saying acknowledging your mistakes is the beginning of healing. May I heal soon and make up for the lost time. God's Kingdom will truly be established on this earth soon and I need to be mature to be a part of it.

Sometimes we need to be taught the basics. For those who are new in the faith and even those who have been faithful.

This means to me that I need to start from the beginning. Reading my bible, sharing with a partner, praying out loud with others, starting study groups, doing a challenge for learning the word planning a spiritual retreat. Getting me from formula milk, to fruits, to the vegetables, to the meats to the solid foods! To always be willing to learn more and have a closer walk with Jesus.

It seem like we roar through the bible and we pray and try at every opportunity to tell someonne about God and then we get off track, we should be further along, stronger in His word, have a stronger faith, somewhere along the way we lose it! And we have to start over again with the Grace of God, baby steps when we really should be teachers, witnesses, spreading the good news of our Lord and Savior! Its time to stop drinking milk and have some grown up food! Praying I will get better at being more consistent staying on the right track towards eternal life, praying I will stop with the baby steps!

This verse reminds me of some people I know, who made a commitment to Christ many years ago but stopped there. They very seldom attend church, tithe or even read the Bible. Yet they think they are ok because they once prayed the sinners prayer. Well, to me, and I believe to God, there is more to it than that. I believe it takes constant fellowship, study of God's word and trying to influence others for the gospel truths as well as tithing to God's work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that all Scripture is prepares us to to live our lives equipped for His works and purposes. We will never live a life pleasing to God if we don't stay connected and grow.

If you are not studying the word and putting it into practice then you are still a baby Christian. You need to move forward in your relationship with God. You should be teaching others about God ,you should be eating solid food not being spoon fed milk like a baby. You should know right from wrong and good from evil. God expects you to mature in your spirituality not remain a carnal whiny infant.
