Hebrews 12:2
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Yes we need to "fix our eyes upon Jesus" each and every day.

I like the KJV version better, which says "Looking unto Jesus the author and fnisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." This verse is so special to me, because I would feel discouraged and so hopeless, and even trembling with horrible fear, thinking about the chastisement of God, and His commands for us to be perfect and holy. Of course we should do our best to walk as Christ walked, to be so perfect and holy, but more often than not it seems the harder we try, the worse we do. :( Which is why I love this verse encouraging me to look to Jesus to do His perfect work in and through me. I find myself learning and growing more in Christ when I'm looking to Him to change me. Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of my faith, He is the Potter, I am the clay. Beholding His beauty as in a glass, being changed into the same image from glory to glory by the Spirit of God. 2Cor. 3: 18

The Christian life is hard work. It requires us to give up whatever endangers our relationship with God, to run patiently, and to struggle against sin with the power of the Holy Spirit. To live effectively we must keep our eyes on Jesus. We will stumble if we look away from him to stare at ourselves or at the circumstances surrounding us. We should be running for Crhist not ourselves, and we must always keep him in sight.
