But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

This verse reminded me of the memory and detail of God. God did not forget one animal in the ark.

Genesis 8:1-4 Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided. 2 The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained. 3 And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased. 4 Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat It's not that God forgot Noah, but I'm sure being in that ark with hurricane force rain beating down on them for 40 days must've been like an eternity. Then comes the wind to blow all the water dry, and that's like another 150 days! I've lived in Florida all my life and been thru a few hurricanes. The longest time I've been stuck was maybe a week and that seemed like forever. I can't imagine spending that long couped up in a barge with 7 other people and all those animals. Can you imagine what that place smelled like? They had to feed all those animals, then comes the fun part, cleaning up after them, ugh! I had a 90 lb dog that I had to scoop up his poop, I can't imagine elephant, rhino, horse, bear and giraffe piles! They didn't have nice little plastic bags on a roll to use either. Indeed, that would've seemed like an eternity. So when the rain stopped and the wind began, and they all probably breathed a sigh of relief. At least they could open the windows and let some air in! But then, it's another 150 days? Wow, that's like a half a year they were couped up in there! I'm sure as all this is going on, they were grateful to be spared, but all that would definitely wear on the most patient of people. I've been on vacations where several people were in the close quarters of an automobile and personalities clash. So I can definitely see where they would begin to nag Noah and he'd feel as tho God had forgotten them. All thru the Psalms, David cries out, how long, oh Lord will you forsake me and hide your face from me. Elijah hid in a cave, believing he was the ONLY one serving God, but God came to him not in thunder an earthquake, fire or a whirlwind or something, but in a still, small whisper, telling him there were 7,000 others out there who still worshiped the God of Isreal. There's times when we pray and pray and it feels like our prayers are bouncing off the ceiling. Take heart, my friend. You're not alone, you're in quite good company. Some of the greatest in God's hall of faith have been in that same place. Hang in there. God hasn't forgotten or forsaken you. All thru the bible, old and new testament God promises, "I will never leave or forsake you". Philippians 1:6 promises, He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion in the day of Christ. This song is old, but the words speak volumes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t29ENes4qRQ&sns=em Papa God, thank You for Your precious promises. We're so blessed that we have Your written Word to encourage us. Noah had none of that. I can't wait to meet him when I get to heaven.
