It's easy to criticize Jacob for how he responded to the news that Simeon was in a jail cell in Egypt because we know the rest of the story. We know that not only will Jacob see Simeon again but he will see Joseph alive and well too. How often do we respond to life's challenges like Jacob? Would life be any easier if God would give us the book of our life? If He did would you read ahead? Actually God does have a "book" about our lives for He know the future. All I know is thanks to Jesus Christ the last chapter is glorious! We can read about our future in His Word. In the meantime we have today before us. God wants us to trust Him day by day Will we trust the Lord and commit today to Him?

Oh how easy it is to think the worst. What does Jacob not know? Joseph is alive and he has two new grandchildren he hasn't met yet. Simeon is alive and well! God has a plan that is bigger than Jacob. He has brought Joseph to Egypt to save the Jewish people and the famine will last another seven years. It's easy to think the worst and think God is against us but we need to remember God has a plan and we need to trust Him even when it looks like God has abandoned us. Lord increase our Faith!
