Genesis 3:17
To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat from it,'

"Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.

I'm thinking this also may be part of the theology of work. Because sin has entered the world, it has robbed work of the original joy it was meant to bring mankind. Work needs to be redeemed through the finished work of Christ. As the New Testament says, work as unto the Lord.

Just imagine what our lives would have been like if Adam and Eve had not disobeyed God. We would have lived in paradise never wanting for anything living in harmony with nature , not working to earn our food or going through labor pains in childbirth. Sin makes life so complicated . When you disobey God you are causing yourself misery and trouble. I would rather live in "paradise" and obey God so my life is less complicated and more joyful. No one can get into the garden anymore which is a shame because I bet it is too beautiful to imagine.

Lori what you say is correct but it didn't fool God. He knew before the creation of the world that these things would happen.God fixed it for us through Jesus.
