Genesis 20:17
Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelek, his wife and his female slaves so they could have children again,
Peter B.

The first healing prayer in the Old Testament. Abraham prayed for Abimelek's wife and his female slaves to have children. In Abraham's obedience to God, he is praying for others to have children and God in answer to his prayers blesses them with children, while Abraham and Sarah are childless. As brothers and sisters in Christ obedience opens doors to blessings. When you meet others needs as Abraham did through prayer, God will meet our needs. Prayer a Powerful tool.

Very well expressed, Peter. This is an unusual Bible story, as first Abraham fails to trust God for his own safety, and then he trusts God to heal Abimelek and his wife and slaves so they could have children. Just shows the wishy-washy nature of man. Once again, enjoy a delightful weekend as we await what the Lord will do next. :-)

Because of Abraham's intercession, as in 18:23-33, Abimelek's bloodline was saved. We must never be stop interceding for our unsaved... just as God heard Abraham, He hears us.

This verse, actually this chapter, lets us know that God works in mysterious ways. we really cannot always understand the why and the how of what He is doing, but although we may not understand, we must still trust Him and believe that He is always working things together for our good.
