Exodus 38:1
They built the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood, three cubits high; it was square, five cubits long and five cubits wide.

The altar was an act of God's grace. It was a place where sinners could come to confess their sins and to offer up a sacrifice to be restored back to fellowship with God. It looked forward to the day when the Lamb of God would once and for all take care of sin on the cross of Calvary. "Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One, Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son."

AMEN to that, Terry. The suffering of Christ for our sin is unimaginable. God bless.

Everything they were building seems so detailed and precise be thankful that God sent his son making things much easier for us to worship it's simplified yet profound in that faith and belief is all we need. It's amazing how lazy I can be at times even just in the study of Gods word which is something i am working on. It took very strong willed people to accomplish all God expected of them.

I am reminded of Paul's admonition in Romans 12:1. He reminds us to present our bodies to God as living sacrifices; unlike the dead sacrifices that would be laid on the altar mentioned above. Paul goes on to say that when we present ourselves to God in this way, we will find out what God's will is for us. The altar mentioned in this passage contained rings into which poles would be inserted for moving it from place to place. The altar was never moved until the sacrifice on the altar had been consumed. I think this is an appropiate example that in our lives too, God will take us from place to place by his Spirit after we have presented our lives completely on the altar and our old self is consumed by God's fire.

What strikes me in this whole chapter is the people's devotion to God. They were willing to part with whatever was necessary for His sake. They were devoted to God and expressed their zeal by parting with whatever possessions they had that could be used for the Tabernacle of Worship. We should all have as much zeal and devotion when it comes to things of God. Seems today we are more dedicated and devoted to things of this world rather than God. We put everything and anything ahead of Him. We forsake Him and miss church, reading our bibles and praising and worshiping Him for some other activity that will no way get us to heaven. Lord, help us Jesus! We need You!
