Exodus 35:2
For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of sabbath rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death.

I remember when I was younger stores were closed on Sunday's and you spent the day around family and friends. Slowly stores and restaurants started opening. Now it seems no one, well maybe a couple places, is closed on Sunday. Oh the evil of the mighty dollar!

Oh, so true Patty. I as well recall when all stores were closed on Sunday but now, as you have said very few are closed. I notice, locally there are only a few stores closed and I know only ONE restaurant that closes Sundays. It's sad that everything seems to revolve around the dollar, as you have stated. I sometimes wonder if is right to celebrate the the sabbath on Sunday, as I know it was originally Saturday, as the Jewish still celebrate it on Saturday, closing everything Friday evening by sundown. God bless, Patty.

I too remember everything being closed on Sunday as a kid. 7-11 was the first to be open 7 days a week from 7am to 11 pm. Now they're open 24/7. Lloyd is not about when you take a sabbath, but that you take one, Jesus said sabbath was made for man, not vice versa. God bless

I tend to agree with you regarding the day of the sabbath, Donna. God bless you too.

this is for us also today in this busy world of hours we still need to take one day of the 7 day work week and just rest in the LORD. i remember my grandpa tell us that we couldn't even play around my mom and some other women would cook the night before so that nothing was done on that sabbath day

This verse speaks to me, in reminding me of the Holiness of our God. For He Himself rested on the seventh day to show us the importance of rest in our own lives. Our health is so much stronger in doing His will. He show us the way to live.
