Before each day of ministry the priests were required to ceremonially wash themselves with water from the Bronze Laver. The continual washing was symbolic of the need to be cleansed from sin regularly. We live on the other side of the cross. We can sing, "What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!"

Looking at this verse from the standpoint of laws and requirements rather than a sanitation standpoint, I am so grateful to be saved by grace and to know that I do not have to follow all the regulations of the Old Testament to receive eternal life.

This verse speaks to me of the care that was/should be to come carefully before our Lord, with deliberation, nothing should be done hastily, or sloppy....we should pay attention to details, when coming to the throne of Grace.
