Judges 1:13
Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it; so Caleb gave his daughter Aksah to him in marriage.

Another difficult chapter to choose a verse from but the Israelites continued to conquer the land God had designated for them. Obviously at that time, it was not wrong to inter-marry within family, or, it was done outside of God's plan. Some strange things happened in those times.

Great insight to intermarrying in the Old Testament Lloyd would make for a good study. I think today, intermarrying from a Christian stand point would be that intermarriage with unbelievers who don't worship Christ(unequally yoked ). Old Testament marriage was not forbidden between cousins. And couples who seek this union should pray and seek Gods will. Blessings as Judges will be a challenging Book.

Hi Taisha, in God's Word translation (1995) the scripture reads..."Then Othniel, son of Caleb's brother Kenaz, captured it . So Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah as a wife." i don't know much about that translation, but i did read that it was not possible to know the correct translation from the Greek if Cabel's brother was Othniel or Kenaz. If Caleb's brother is Kenaz, that would make Othniel and Aksah first cousins and that was allowed. When i read that in Joshua 15, i thought "hmmmm" and then just forgot about it. i think it is good that you questioned it, i wish i would question more things instead of just thinking "hmmmm" and moving on. Good to have this study to do together.

Thanx so much nancy. And your so right, I am excited to read each chapter and then see what you all have gotten from it, as well as converse with eachother on the verses. It helps me so much and has been a tremendous blessing.
